All About Aruba Artifacts

Aruba -- it's an amazing Caribbean island that serves as a vacationer's paradise. There are so many things to do and see in Aruba, you'd need ten vacations to experience it all! If you've had your fill of sunbathing, swimming, shopping, dining, and relaxing, why not take in some culture by seeing some historic Aruba artifacts?

Aruba is somewhat of a melting pot with a colorful history. The natives there share heritage such as African, Dutch and Caquetio Indian. With such a blend of cultures, it's no surprise that Aruba artifacts are such a tourist attraction. Want to take in some culture on your trip? Then you can't miss these amazing locations:

De Olde Molen: Built in 1804, this windmill was first constructed in Holland then sent to Aruba in pieces and reconstructed in 1960. While there, be sure to dine at the moderately priced restaurant and pick up a souvenir!

Archeological Museum: This amazing museum offers some of the oldest Aruba artifacts found anywhere. See ancient tools, pottery, and huge handmade earthen containers created by Aruba's first inhabitants. Marvel at the ancient items and learn more about the people who first lived on Aruba.

Numismatic Museum: As the name suggests, this museum centers around numismatics, or coin collecting. Once there, you'll see tens of thousands of coins from Aruba as well as the rest of the world. It's a coin lovers paradise!

Fort Zoutman: Also featuring the William III tower, this area boasts the Historical Museum of Aruba, where Caquetio Indian Aruba artifacts are displayed proudly alongside pieces from the Dutch colonial era.

These are just a few of the great places where you can see Aruba artifacts and take in some of the rich and varied culture of this island paradise. If you would like to take a piece of Aruba home with you, why not browse some of the offerings available from local artists and craftspeople? Not only will purchasing a handmade item contribute to the livelihood of the proud and friendly people of Aruba, it will let you take a little piece of the island home with you!
